More Issues Code Enforcement Handles

The City of Tucson’s Code Enforcement Division is responsible for enforcing a wide variety of property maintenance codes throughout Tucson.  These codes ensure owners maintain their property which helps to protect citizens’ health, safety and welfare.

Some issues such as Weeds, Illegal Dumping, Junk Motor Vehicles, Excessive Storage and Signs are prevalent in Dodge Flower and therefore been given their own reference pages but there are many codes some of which affect North Dodge at times.

The full list of  issues Code Enforcement is responsible for can be found by going directly to the Code Enforcement Page:

Some other issues that we can see quite a bit of in Dodge Flower are:
Exterior Property Issues

Vacant, unsecured, boarded structure.  These can be particularly difficult and take extraordinary amounts of time to resolve.  The first step is always to report it.

Unsecured pools and spas.  This is very important to get reported as it is known as an "attractive nuisance".  In other words, kids especially, might find themselves attracted to a pool or spa.   Also pools that are not being maintained post health risks as breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

Interior Property Issues

Lack of utilities, heating, or cooling.  If you haven't paid your bill, that's not CE's responsibility.  CE comes into play when your landlord is not making enough effort to get utilities, heating/cooling functioning within a residence you are paying for.  Things malfunction but a landlord has a responsibility to to get them up and running again without delay.

Inoperable Plumbing.  A little trickier is plumbing and, of course, tenants are entitled to to operating plumbing.  Tenants may be held responsible for the cost of repair if it is deemed they are responsible for an obstruction in the line.

Pests, cockroaches, rodents.  Once again a tricky situation but tenants are not expected to reside in conditions in which vermin are present.  Sometimes this can be determined to be the landlord's responsibility and sometimes it can be caused due to the tenant's unsanitary living conditions.

Roaches can also become prevalent thru our sewer system and the city does and will treat a sewer drain around a problem area.  Complete info available by clicking HERE
