Picture

The location of the Dodge Flower neighborhood to so many of the community gardens run by the Community Gardens of Tucson, is wonderful and provides so many choices!

The Community Gardens of Tucson was established in 1991 and headed up by George Brookbank for many, many years.  For much of that time, there were just a few gardens and then in the early 2000's Gene Zonge began assisting and many more gardens were opened up all over Tucson.  Gene has since departed but there are still many gardens and the map can be found -->HERE<--
You get FAR more than a simple plot!  You get all water/irrigation, expert advice, tools and a whole gardening community!  Reduced plot fees are also available to low-income gardeners.
People choose which garden is best for them for a variety of reasons whether it be close to home or to work or on the way to one or the other but the  closest to Dodge Flower is probably Nottinghill Garden at 2660 N. Alvernon.  It's the east side of Alvernon between Flower and Bermuda.

The second closest is the Presidio Garden which is located almost directly at Palo Verde and Presidio Road (one block south of Ft. Lowell).  This used to be Tucson's largest community garden for quite some time.

Others that are very close are the Davidson Garden, G2 Garden, Doolen Garden and Shay Shay Garden.
For a minor plot fee, you too could be bringing home a bounty of organic vegetables every month (and some flowers too if you'd like!).
