Neighborhoods Police Incidents
If it is a registered neighborhood in Tucson, the police incidents are listed here. This is a good place to get an idea of how Dodge Flower is comparing to nearby neighborhoods. AGI Crime Meetings Alvernon Grant Initiative Meetings were originally formed around 2005 to combat a huge meth problem that was plaguing the neighborhoods surrounding the Grant and Alvernon intersection. Neighbors and Neighborhoods came together to do something about it and it got done. AGI has now evolved into now mainly being crime concerns for these neighborhoods and at least TWO Tucson Police Officers are present at every meeting. Not only can you learn all kinds of stuff, you can contribute too. Meetings are on the second Tuesday of each month from 6-7 pm at the Emmanuel Church, 1825 N Alvernon Way. Make Dodge Flower "Squeak"! The old adage "The squeaky wheel gets the grease" is all too true. Apathy and the attitude that someone else will do it, will keep things just the way they are. If Dodge Flower wants more police presence and active participation, residents and businesses NEED to report even the small incidents. Here's a link to report crime online. They do NOT accept major crimes reporting online. This is specifically for the smaller stuff that is seen around Dodge Flower daily. Link: TPD Online Police Report Harden The Target Tucson Police have been preaching this for years but sometimes we lose site of it. This is the simple stuff of locking our doors and windows and not creating attractions for criminal behavior. Common sense stuff. You have it -- use it. |
Crime-Free Multi-Unit Housing Project This is simply a TERRIFIC project to assist landlords, property managers and even tenants to make their properties free of crime. The benefits are tremendous to everyone involved with the property and the entire neighborhood. This is designed for properties with three or more units but I'm sure whoever is currently running it in Tucson would be happy to assist and guide property owners or managers with concerns or questions they may have even if they only have a single or double unit. Link: CRIME FREE MULTI HOUSING Report Mail Theft, Tampering and Vandalism Another thing Dodge Flower has rashes of is mail theft, tampering and vandalism. If you want it to stop, EACH and EVERY time your mail box is tampered with, you should take the few moments to report it to USPS and/or TPD! This is a serious crime and they WILL put people around the neighborhood to catch who is doing this! You can call, 1-877-876-2455 (press 3), or file an online report for assorted issues including mail theft. For mailbox vandalism, there's a different page. Links to both below: USPS Report Mailbox Vandalism Security Cameras There's a wide variety of very affordable security cameras available on the market now as well as systems such as Ring. A little research could buy you a lot of piece of mind and video if anybody came onto or into your home or property. That can go a LONG way in catching them! |
Form Neighborhood Watch Groups Neighborhood Watch has been around for a long time and there's good reason for it. The only commitment is attending a meeting once a year. Please contact us if you're interested in starting one up in your area. Report Tagging Nothing says gangs are around much more than tagging. Gangs WILL most certainly attract other gangs too! If it's small enough that you can take care of it yourself, please do it. If it's too large or on someone else's property, please go to Resources I --> Tagging and Graffiti. They're very quick about getting out to it but tagging that includes racial or hate tones, they it make a priority. Keep Your Property Presentable and Tidy There is direct correlation that neighborhoods that are run-down and uncared for will have a higher crime rate. It doesn't take a genius to know that neighborhoods that care about their appearance will attract better quality tenants which benefits residents and landlords alike. Light Up the Night For pennies a year, the best thing you can do to keep peeping Toms or burglars away from your home is to keep an outside light on. Another affordable alternative is a solar-powered motion detector exterior light. They run about $40 at the big box stores (probably on Amazon too). This is a good way to light up a driveway or carport if there's any movement. |
